SADC is implementing the San Antonio/Bexar County Digital Equity Plan and has been working with the BDO to close the digital divide for more than 20% of local residents who do not have high-speed, reliable and affordable internet.

Thousands of families without high-speed internet access in San Antonio are one step closer to getting connected.

"To have true equity in our city, all residents need access to the internet," Mayor Ron Nirenberg said in a statement.

“We wanted to make sure that it gets going immediately because we are behind on the digital divide and families depend on internet connectivity to do everything they need to do,” Nirenberg said.

“This contract marks significant progress in our effort to bridge the digital divide,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “

District 6 Councilwoman Melissa Cabello Havrda said, “It puts tools in the hands of those who have been left out of the digital economy — of course, we’ve got to talk about our small businesses — tools in the hands of our students who have been left behind, especially in the last couple of years.”
